Do I have to sign up to make a purchase?
No. All payments are made through PayPal - the industry standard in online credit card processing - and no account is required.

How do I purchase an item?
To find an item to purchase, use our jewelry page. Once you have made your choice, click the "Purchase This Item" button. You'll be led through our easy and fast checkout process.

How do I pay?
All stores use PayPal payment processing. If you already have a PayPal account you can pay from your current balance. If not, you can pay using most standard credit cards.

Why do you keep asking me to accept cookies?
This question is the result of your browser settings. If your browser preference is set to warn you before accepting cookies, you will be queried by your browser each time we request to write one to your system. If you set your browser to accept all cookies, this warning will go away.

How do I pay?
Your store opening fee as well as all other fees will be collected through your PayPal account.

When will I be automatically billed?
Billing occurs every 30 days from the date the account was activated.

How many items can I have in my store?
Your inventory is up to you. You can have an unlimited number of items in your store. Just remember that you may only offer handcrafted jewelry…no mass-produced, mass-market items.

How do I load pictures into my store?
Pictures are loaded into your store by using the Add Item and Edit Item links in the store owners administration area.

Do I need a digital camera?
No! Digital cameras are nice, but not necessary. Pictures taken with a good quality camera are fine and can be scanned in with a scanner. If you prefer, many drug stores and other photo processing centers can digitize your picture -- put your pictures on a floppy disk or CDROM -- for a few extra dollars. For easy uploading, make sure they store pictures in the jpeg format.

Can I be listed in more than one category?
You may only be listed in one category. Don't worry about loosing visibility by only being listed in one category. Any items you have in your store that match a search by a customer will be displayed no matter what category you are listed in. Just choose the most relavent category for your business.

Can you help me promote my store?

Yes! Your success is our success. Here's how we can help you:

  • JEWELRY SPECIALS---For only 20 cents per click you can have your jewelry displayed on every page of the mall. This is a great opportunity to get your jewelry seen by tons of potential customers.
  • SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION---We have hired a professional search engine optimization company to increase our presence in the major search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo, Overture, etc. This will ensure that the mall traffic that is vital to your success will be there. We also have aggressive pay per click programs with the search engines that produce major traffic.

How do customers purchase my items?
All store owners must have a PayPal account. PayPal is a free easy to use payment processing company. Click here to learn more. The money will be deposited into your PayPal account within a few days. Your money can then be sent to you in various ways using ProPay.

How do I close my store?
If you'd like to close your store, for any reason, all you have to do is cancel the original Mall subscription in your paypal account. For more detailed information on how to do this, please see "How do I cancel my subscription?" in Paypal's Help Center (if the link no longer works, please search paypal's site for 'subscription'). There is no need to remove your items, but we ask that you complete all orders that have already been made prior to closing.

Can HTML be used in my store to make it more attractive?
Yes. You may, and should, use HTML throughout your store. The only exceptions are your store title and description displayed in search results. These may not contain HTML. If you use a program like Frontpage or Dreamweaver to create HTML code, please only copy and paste the code between the <body> and </body> tags. The other tags are not needed and will interfere with the rest of the page in certain browsers.

Do I have to give out my contact information?
Yes. We believe it is reasonable to require store owners to post contact information on our site to gain trust from potential customers. Since buyers are sending money before receiving (or actually seeing) merchandise, buyers may be uneasy when dealing with a new person and listing your contact information will go a long way towards allaying those fears. We only ask that you list a phone number where customers can contact you if need be.

Can I list an item multiple times?
No. Please list an item only once. Customers do not like looking through a list of items that are all the same, and they're likely to click out of your store in frustration.

To ensure that the online shopping experience at The Handcrafted Jewelry Mall is pleasing to our visitors, duplicate items will be suspended or deleted by administrators. If too many duplicate items are found within a store or an ongoing pattern of duplication persists, The Handcrafted Jewelry Mall reserves the right to suspend a store's account.

If I already have a store on another mall web site, may I open a store here?
Yes! All we ask is that you keep your inventory up to date so that you are not displaying that have already been sold at another location. If we receive complaints from customers, we will review your account and the problem to see if any action is needed. The Handcrafted Jewelry Mall reserves the right to suspend the account of any store that is consistently displaying items that are not available.

Can I have my own domain name for my store?
Yes! Just register your domain at a domain registration service and point it to http://thehandcraftedjewelrymall.com/your_username (replace your_useranme with your mall username). We recommend CheapWebHostingServices.com

Can I use the images in my mall account on another website?
No. Images that reside on The Handcrafted Jewelry Mall server cannot be displayed on other websites. If you do this, your account can and will be suspended.

How do I setup shipping?
Two steps to setting up your shipping:

1) Setup PayPal which will force a certain formula to be used to calculate shipping that is required by the cart before placing an order

To do this, log into your PayPal account. Go to Profile > Shipping Calculations in PayPal to calculate your shipping.

You can test it by trying to purchase any of your items. If the shipping is done correctly, it should be shown prior to your purchase after you hit the "Purchase This Item" button.


2) Setup a description of how your shipping charges are calculated that is soley used to help your customers better understand what they will need to pay.

The description may be as simple as "We ship USPS. All orders will be charged $3.95 flat shipping." You can set this description by going to http://thehandcraftedjewelrymall.com/ and clicking "Store Owner Login" at the bottom of the page. Once you login, click "Change Store Info" at the top of the screen. There will be a box on this form that allows you to describe your current shipping options. Fill in this box with your description and save the information by clicking the submit button at the bottom of the page.
